Brilliant analysis on how manipuliation works through emotional triggers. The Bernays example really hammers home how these tactics exploit unconcious patterns rather than conscious deliberation. I've noticedd similar dynamics in workplaces when leadership frames AI tools as "unavoidable progress" and skepticism gets reframed as resistence. Putting slow practices at the core cuts through alot of the performative urgency that dominates right now.

Thanks for the kind words, and good point about workplace dynamics. There’s a real gold-rush mentality right now around selling AI to businesses, which brings a lot of hype and overpromising with it. Too often, the real issue is that people don’t take the time to sort out what’s actually useful from what’s essentially propaganda.

Over time, though, as companies lose money or discover that adopting AI is far more nuanced than “let’s use AI for everything,” the excesses tend to correct themselves. Ideally, the system finds a more realistic equilibrium—one grounded in actual needs rather than excitement alone. We'll see.

Brilliant as always. For young ones growing into this world, finding a centre in oneself to trust must be extraordinarily difficult.
